Horse Safaris in Africa
If you are looking into a horse safari, then an African safari is your place. It’s a rather big place, to be sure, but with the exception of a few jungles and the hottest part of some deserts, the entire continent including her islands is free to gallop through. We will just name a few for now, but we’ll extend this list in proper form as soon as we have time to create the pages.
We must mention Botswana first because the horse safaris on the Okavango Delta our out of this world. It just offers so much wildlife and shallow marshes provide mirrors for aerial photos, which just makes the place look even more stunning. See for yourself.
While no one can predict which animals will be on display, you can be sure that when on horseback, you can find them easily.
What makes Madagascar so unique is the wildlife and flora there is like practically no other place on earth. It is too far from land for bugs and non-water fowl to make the trip, so the wildlife here has remained captive and preserved and you literally cannot find it anyplace else, which makes this place so special and so rewarding. And going with natives and intelligent guides just makes the experience all the more incredible, as the knowledge here is esoteric and not as far flung as with lions and cheetahs and the like.
The Miombo wilderness is going to push your limits. It is fairly untamed in the world of safaris, where sometimes you are working off trail and sometimes on. Because there are zebra herds here and you are on horses, there are fewer perceived boundaries between those two animals than with horse and lion or horse and hippo. So it can get exciting.
Namibia is wild with diversity of action and content. From desert to elephants to diamond caves and ocean beaches littered with shipwrecks and casually referred to as “The Skeleton Coast”. Whatever you want to get into, it can be gotten into on a Namibia horse safari. One of our favorite destinations if only for the variance of options alone. Namibia is quite large with miles of national park along its coasts as well as inland. A longer safari is needed to cover it all.
